Losing Weight through Pilates
There is nothing like good old exercise to lose weight. The right amount and kind of exercise can give you much more than just weight loss. It can help you manage your stress levels, reduce the risk of heart problems and certain types of cancer through effective blood oxygenation, it strengthens your body, reduces depression, increases your sex drive, strengthens your lungs, and so much more.
The key is to not overexert your self too much, and yet do enough exercise to make it effective. Choosing the right kind of exercise that you also enjoy is a key factor in weight loss. Some people find it a challenge to stay on the treadmill for cardio training because it tends to get boring after a while. Some people enjoy working out on the treadmill. Finding something you enjoy and you can stick to for a long time is important.
One kind of exercise is Pilates, and it has been effective for a lot of people worldwide not just in promoting weight loss, but also in strengthening the lower body and giving a better sense of balance.
Pilates training uses several different kinds of equipments, although it started out as a set of 34 matwork exercises. Pilates equipments include large exercise balls, smaller weighted balls, resistance bands, rotating disks, and the likes. Most of the equipments used in Pilates are invented by the same person who invented Pilates training, Joseph Pilates from Germany.
Pilates training is built on different principles and utilizes resistance training. A key component of Pilates training is learning how to breathe properly. Integrating proper breathing techniques (much like the principles of yoga) fires up the blood and lets your body burn up fats faster as a result. Proper breathing techniques oxygenate the blood and muscles.
Pilates exercises focuses on the mass of muscles located in the middle part of the body or the abdomen, buttocks, hips, and lower back area. The exercises start there and radiates outwards to the other parts of the body. Pilates training asserts that strengthening the center of the body is essential not just in effective weight loss but in every part of daily activities. As part of strengthening the middle area of the body (or what is typically called the powerhouse), there must be control in all movements of the exercise.
Every movement in Pilates exercises have a purpose to it. Ideally, the exercise process must be completed as a whole and in proper order to achieve the desired results of weight loss and body strengthening. The combination of all principles behind Pilates exercises also promotes flexibility of the body.
It is important to note that while Pilates exercises can also be done by pregnant women, it should not be undertaken without guidance from a doctor and a professional Pilates instructor. If you also have other health conditions such as heart problems and the likes, it’s best to consult a doctor’s advice before you try Pilates or any other form of physically taxing exercises.
Combining exercise with the proper diet and even natural weight loss supplements such as Proactol can greatly help in achieving your weight loss goals.
