Know Your Aerobics for Weight Loss
When one says the word “aerobics”, one immediately visualizes people in spandex, dancing around in a gym. The truth is that aerobics come in many forms. Technically, aerobics combines rhythmic movements with strength training and stretching routines. Typically, you use certain large muscle groups repetitively over the period of your workout. This can be performed with or without music.
Aerobics can be done within the comforts of your home, in a gym, or with an aerobics class, whatever suits your personality and preferences.
Here are a few types of aerobic workouts:
- Aerobic Dance – by far the most popular type of aerobic exercise. If you have good coordination, love to dance, and want to lose some weight while you’re at it, aerobic dancing might be the best for you. There are several variations to this, like the hip-hop dancing.
- Cycling – this can be done on a stationary bike (if you don’t know how to ride a real one of if the area you live in is not biker-friendly) or on a real bike. This is one of the best types of aerobic exercises. If you use a real bike, it’s enjoyable in the sense that aside from the cardiovascular training that you’re getting from it, you also develop great reflexes and coordination, and it’s something that won’t bore you if you did it everyday.
- Swimming – another great form of aerobic exercise. One of the best ways to burn calories while enjoying your self is to do a few laps on the pool daily.
- Brisk Walking – going out for a brisk 30-60 minute walk daily can give you so many health benefits. Not only does it promote weight loss, but it also prevents certain types of cancer because walking is a good way to oxygenate your blood. Walking is also something that even the elderly and pregnant women can do. It’s not as intense a workout as jogging is, and does not put too much pressure on your heart.
- Running – people who like to run for exercise often describe a certain kind of pleasurable rush that they get after running. This is a very good cardiovascular exercise, but it’s not for everybody. Before you decide to go out jogging or running, consult a doctor first.
- Treadmill – this is for people who do not have the time or who just don’t want to go out and go for a run or brisk walk. This is another good cardiovascular exercise that you can do at home (if you have a treadmill of your own) or in a gym. The only downside is that it may get pretty boring because of the repetitiveness of running or walking on it.
- Stair climbing – a good cardiovascular exercise that is a bit more difficult than going on a treadmill because of the inclined surface. This also develops the muscles on your legs and thighs very effectively.
Aerobics exercises are varied and most are easy to do, with or without a gym membership. Coupled with good diet and natural weight loss supplements like Proactol, you can enjoy a healthier lifestyle and gain your ideal weight.
